 Life Cycle Costing – or "Total costs of ownership" – is a way of economic thinking that exists for some    decades now.

 In the past many companies did not use this technique to support their investment decisions and cost-benefit analyses. If they yet did, they often applied very limited Net Present Value (NPV) calculations. In case organizations still use the old methods, from practical experience we at S&G and partners know that nine out of ten cost-benefit analyses lead to incorrect results and five out of ten would have lead to a different investment choice if Life Cycle Costing was applied correctly.

S&G and partners (S&G) has developed the Life Cycle Costing method further and created software for practicing Life Cycle Costing in a correct way, as well on the level of individual projects as on a strategic business level.

Cost-benefit analyses

With the LCC-Lite software cost-benefit analyses can be performed.

Its main features are:

 Easy calculation of the economic replacement moment and the cost price;

 Visual representation of analysis results in nearly 40 different charts;

 Display of traditional indicators such as Return on Investment (ROI), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Net Present Value (NPV), cash flow, funding and payback period.

The time value of the cash flow calculated by S&G is the same as that of the NPV calculation. However, our software translates the cash flow into costs per year and per unit. This is a better way of communicating than the much more laborious NPV method. What, for example, is the value of knowing that the net present value for a car is € 94.249? We are convinced you are much better off knowing that the price per year is € 11.800 and the price per kilometer € 0,24.
